Dr. Romilly Haslam
Dr. Romilly leads the General Practice team at BVH. With a deep passion for preventative medicine, internal diagnostics, and advanced dentistry, she is dedicated to the lifelong wellness of her patients.
She believes that the best veterinary care is built on long-term relationships and trust. Whether she is managing a complex chronic illness or guiding a new puppy or kitten through their first year, Dr. Romilly's approach is defined by exceptional clinical detail and profound empathy for both the pet and the parent.
Dr. Romilly’s lifelong love for veterinary medicine began in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, where she was raised. After graduating from the Bristol Veterinary School in 2003, she jumped straight into practice, embracing the highly rewarding and dynamic life of a traditional Yorkshire Vet.
While Romilly truly loves the variety and everyday challenges of being a general practitioner, she quickly developed a strong passion for surgical care. In 2009, she formalised this dedication by completing her General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.
Beyond the operating theatre, Romilly has cultivated special interests in dentistry, dermatology, and oncology. recognising the emotional weight of a cancer diagnosis, she has pursued additional training in surgical oncology and chemotherapy. She considers it a profound privilege to support pets and gently guide their families through these difficult journeys with compassion and expertise.
Every animal in Romilly's care is treated with a gentle touch, as she is a passionate advocate for providing a completely stress-free veterinary experience for all her patients. She also holds a particularly special affinity for her feline patients, taking extra care to ensure their visits are as calm, quiet, and comfortable as possible.
For Romilly, veterinary medicine is just as much about the people as it is about the pets. Forming lasting relationships with families and meeting people from all walks of life remains one of the greatest rewards of her career. At Bardon Veterinary Hospital, she ensures that everyone is always welcome, and every single concern is listened to with the utmost empathy and respect.

Dr. Mark Tonzing
As the founder of BoneVet Orthopaedics, Dr. Mark brings elite surgical capabilities and extensive experience to Bardon Veterinary Hospital; 13 years as an orthopaedic and spinal surgeon in multi-disciplinary, specialist-led referral centres, interspersed with over a decade as a peripatetic surgeon.
BVH will now serve as a permanent clinical base. From treating developmental elbow disease to performing TPLO or spinal corpectomy, Mark ensures your pet receives advanced surgical intervention with the convenience of local care.

We saw a gap between the warm, personal touch of a traditional local vet clinic and the elite, high-tech capabilities of a referral centre. We decided to build a hospital that offers both.
Dr. Haslam brings years of dedicated, compassionate experience as an exceptional general practitioner, ensuring your pets receive thorough, deeply caring everyday medicine. Dr. Tonzing, an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon, brings advanced surgical expertise and rigorous procedural standards directly into our primary care setting.
